From Jim's chair

I feel like I am in the morning after a night where I consumed too much and witnessed a lot of drama. Coming to terms with this new era of Tottenham is crazy and surreal. Yet, it allows you to not just dream about what could happen next but genuinely believe it. My next dream is Spurs go and sign Kroupi, a young player seemingly destined for the top. As amongst all Spurs spending there is an exciting core of focus on young players who can grow. Is this finally going to be Pochettino's era reborn again but with the ambition to take it all the way? It feels like it might.

Slow & Steady…

Bit of a slow week for Spurs. I’m not even saying that in a salty way, just kind of funny considering how many bombas we had last week and now… just a few bits and bobs here and there.

Which is okay, honestly. I feel like we’ve hit all of our major player targets. Now, it’s about getting to know our new players, seeing how they work with De Zerbi, and filling in any more gaps. I personally would love for us to target another striker and/or winger. I think Richy is probably going to stay but if we got another striker there’s a chance he could leave. Plus, with Solanke always having ankle/injury issues, getting decent competition (sorry Richy) would be beneficial, but also just having good depth.

Other than that, most of the Spurs players have gotten knocked out of the World Cup. Whoops. Tournaments can suck sometimes, haha.

Two more things. Radu Dragusin has signed with Fiorentina for the 26/27 season. He posted a goodbye post to his instagram which made me think he had been sold, but surprisingly not. Maybe he knows this is most likely his goodbye. I feel bad for him, honestly. I think he was brought in by Ange and was utilized incorrectly due to the wrong kind of formations and the squad injuries. He was never a bad center-back, he was just not the right profile for the club. This became really evident when he continued to not have playing time. And of course, he had that ACL tear in the Europa league in 2024 so, he hasn’t had the best time here. Oh, and his agent was always talking about something crazy. Haha.

Finally, Alfie Devine has left the club and signed with Preston North End. A prominent academy player that was praised by the likes of Mourinho, it’s sad to see him go but he never got the opportunity to show his class here. I think he was a good player, and he always spoke highly of Spurs. It sucks it didn’t work out, but I think he’s found a good place at Preston and can hopefully make a good career out of it.

That’s all for now!

GAME OF THE WEEK

Editors Game of the Week:
Sorry guys, you’re stuck with just me this week. Haha. I have watched pretty much every single game this World Cup has offered and I feel like every game continues to up the ante and my expectations of this World Cup. The second round of the Knockouts was insane. I was stuck between Brazil/Norway, or Mexico/England, but I have to give it to the latter. This game was insane. England playing in the Azteca is one thing, but to then go and win with style was another. It was so back and forth, with Jude Bellingham working his ass off to make things happen. Just a 10/10 game for me, definitely an all timer. And of course, hearing Harry Kane’s “tinny English grandma” voice was hilarious. Best post-match interview of all time?
