From Jim's chair
Morning. Welcome to the first proper issue of this thing – if you’re reading it, you’re either someone who has sent a question to the pod before or a listener who subscribed to us ages ago and we never got round to posting anything useful… until now! Welcome to our new weekly summary of all things Spurs, including match previews, tactical insights, youth updates, and the latest with our Women’s team all in one place.
One thing has been on my mind in particular this week. We had a manager who told us we could win a trophy and we did. Now we have a manager who has told us we can win the next five games and we’ve won two in a row. Does this culture translate onto the pitch? It feels like it does, so perhaps we should reciprocate it as fans, starting now! WE CAN BEAT LEEDS AND CHELSEA! Try saying it. It’s okay if it doesn’t happen. You may enjoy the ride more believing if we can though.
Right, onwards and upwards!
– Jim
LAST GAME
Spurs take it to Birmingham
In rather shocking fashion, Tottenham Hotspur came out with an aggression unseen throughout the entire season and beat Aston Villa away, bringing home some very important 3 points. A banger from Conor Gallagher and a header from Richarlison was all that was needed. While West Ham fans complained about squad rotation (worry about winning your own matches, thank you very much!) Unai Emery stood dumbfounded the entire match as he watched his players run around without a single thought in their heads. Oh, and Mathys Tel had Matty Cash in his pocket the whole time. Take that, you bellend!
Otherwise, the match was pretty much one sided, with the goal from Emi Buendia being the only shot on target Villa had all match. Perhaps the gift of three points is enough for Spurs fans to wish Villa the best in the Europa League – if they somehow come back against Nottingham Forest in their second semi-final leg maybe it will demoralise a pretty in-form Forest side. Either way, this win was important as it is two out of the five matches De Zerbi believes we can win. With Leeds next at home, if we can secure another three points maybe we can begin to breathe a little easier.
